Protective clothing used around fire, electrical arcs and molten metal must maintain reliable performance throughout its service life. For these high-risk applications, inherent flame-resistant fabrics offer an important advantage over post-treated FR materials.
Protection built into the fiber
Post-treated fabrics obtain flame resistance through chemical finishes applied to the textile surface. Their durability may be influenced by treatment quality, laundering and garment maintenance.
Inherent FR fabrics derive their protective behavior from the fiber’s own material structure. The flame resistance is not simply a surface coating, so it is designed to remain stable after repeated washing.
When exposed to heat or flame, the material helps resist ignition, limit flame spread and reduce continued combustion. This makes inherent FR fabrics particularly suitable for long-term protective workwear.

Seven FR fiber systems
Ganlion offers seven FR fiber options:
- Aramid
- Modacrylic
- FR Cotton
- FR Viscose
- FR Nylon
- FR Polyester
- Suplon
Customized blends can balance thermal protection, strength, comfort, weight, durability and cost according to the intended application.

Protection for different industrial hazards
Ganlion’s inherent FR fabrics can combine flame resistance with antistatic properties, arc thermal protection, heat insulation, high visibility, anti-UV performance, oil resistance and enhanced mechanical durability.
Key applications include:
- Electric power: Lightweight and breathable fabrics for electrical maintenance uniforms, arc-rated trousers, coveralls and multilayer protective systems.
- Oil and gas: Flame-resistant, antistatic and oil-resistant fabrics for drilling, refinery, tank-area and pipeline-inspection workwear. Selected constructions can retain performance after 100 washing cycles, with point-to-point resistance of 1 × 10⁵–1 × 10⁷ Ω after washing.
- Metallurgy and welding: Heat-resistant fabrics designed for radiant heat, sparks and molten-metal splash in furnace, casting, hot-rolling and welding environments.
- General industry: Practical FR solutions balancing protection, visibility, comfort and cost for industrial, maintenance and emergency-repair clothing.

Standards coverage
Depending on the fabric construction and end use, Ganlion solutions can support requirements associated with:
ISO 11612, ISO 11611, ISO 14116, ISO 9185, ISO 20471, IEC 61482, EN 1149-5, EN 13034, NFPA 2112, NFPA 70E, ASTM F1506, ASTM F1959 and applicable GB standards.
Final compliance must be confirmed using the test report for the specific fabric and garment construction.
